The Illuminati Outro
The Illuminati Outro is the convergence of four musician/composers, armed with acoustic and electronic tendencies, to collaborate on the creation of new music with little time... seeking to build a shaky bridge between composition and improvisation, using whatever means are available to bend sound to the will of the collective. Music may include group improv, solo arrangements for folk songs, solo improv and acoustic/electronic duets. None of these guidelines actually exist, and they will be adhered to strictly.
Caravan
Caravan is an acoustic trio based in Charleston, SC. Consisting of two guitars and upright bass, their focus is on French gypsy swing, a la Django Reinhardt…but flamenco and bossa influences are also represented. They have performed at festivals and venues across the southeast and, in 2004, recorded ‘A Night in Samois’, their debut album. Caravan used to play around Charleston quite regularly but have been on a two year hiatus while members explored other projects, traveled, lived like gypsies, etc…they are back in town and available for parties, weddings, corporate events, etc...
Gradual Lean
is a collective of longtime friends and musicians in Charleston. Some of us remember the Wherehouse days or the epic evenings at Mezzane. It's band members usually include (but are not limited to) Lee Barbour on guitar, Quentin Baxter on drums, Kevin Hamilton on bass and Charlton Singleton on trumpet. They play music according to the moment. Some of those moments include 'sexy motherfucker' by Prince, while yet another moment or two is spent dancing through the crowd singing a Charles Mingus tune. Gradual Lean is currently performing in and around Charleston every 3 or 4 months. They are sometimes available for special events...just ask.
